Lira Diocese Celebrates the Ordination of 11 Priests and 8 Deacons
The Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Lira gathered in joyful celebration yesterday as the diocese ordained 11 new priests and 8 new deacons in a colorful and prayerful ceremony.
The ordination marks a significant milestone for the diocese, reflecting the continued growth of priestly and diaconal vocations. Family members, religious men and women, clergy, and thousands of faithful joined in thanksgiving for the newly ordained ministers who have answered God's call to serve His Church.
The newly ordained priests are now entrusted with celebrating the sacraments, preaching the Gospel, and providing pastoral care to God's people. The deacons, meanwhile, begin a vital stage of ministry through service to the Church, assisting in the liturgy, proclaiming the Gospel, and engaging in charitable works as they prepare for priestly ordination.
The celebration was filled with hymns, prayers, and expressions of gratitude, highlighting the importance of vocations in strengthening the mission of the Church. It also served as an encouragement to young people to remain open to God's call and to discern their vocations with faith and courage.
The Diocese of Lira continues to witness remarkable growth in evangelization and pastoral ministry, with the ordination of these 19 ministers representing a renewed commitment to serving communities across the region.
As the newly ordained begin their ministries, the faithful are encouraged to keep them in prayer, asking God to grant them wisdom, holiness, humility, and perseverance as they dedicate their lives to the service of Christ and His people.
