Rt. rev. Raphael p'Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J appointed as the new Archbishop of gulu

His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu, the Rt. rev. Raphael p'Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J (Combonian Missionary of the Heart of Jesus], until now the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Gulu presented by Archbishop John Baptist Odama, for reaching the age limit, according to Can 401, § 1 of the Code of Canon Law.

His Grace John Baptist Odama, Archbishop Emeritus of Gulu, has been appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Gulu until the day of the canonical possession by the new Archbishop.

The Apostolic Nunciature desires to congratulate the new Archbishop Raphael p'Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J and invokes abundant blessings upon his pastoral ministry in that local Church.

The Apostolic Nunciature expresses its gratitute to His Grace Jon Baptist Odama for his generous sservice during twenty-five years as the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu (1999-2024) and before as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi (1996-1999)
