We join the Archdiocese of Kampala to mourn the passing on of Msgr Charles Kato Katongole a senior Catholic cleric of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala .
He passed on at Nsambya Hospital on Friday and will be laid to rest at Katende Catholic Parish , in Mpigi district on Tuesday.
According to the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Fr Dr Pius Male, the function will start with a requiem mass at 10:00 am.
Christians have also been given the opportunity to pray for the repose of Kato’s soul during a special requiem mass, which the authorities at Lubaga have organised to take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral - Lubaga, on Monday starting at 10:00 am.
Msgr. Kato, 85, was born at Lusenke, Bukalagi (in Mpigi district), in 1936. He is the son of the late Zowe Namutebi and Gabriel Kaggwa.
Subsequent to his priestly ordination (December 11, 1966), he took various key appointments, including Kisubi Minor Seminary, Buvuma Parish and Namugongo Catholic Martyrs Shrine.
He also worked with the Caritas Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference. He also headed the Land Board of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala.
