Association Member Episcopal Conference of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) member states’ Administrative Secretaries have grouped in Lusaka for their annual meeting.

And in his remarks during the official opening of the meeting, Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Secretary General Fr. Cleophas Lungu urged the participants to take advantage of the meeting so that it can be fruitful.
Fr. Lungu also appealed to them to share experiences and best practices in executing what he described as noble duties in making Episcopal Conferences in the AMECEA region live up to the ideals of their mission and mandate.

He observed that administrative secretaries have serious responsibilities of maintaining order, preparing Bishops documents for meetings and making sure key resolutions of the Bishops’ Conferences are communicated to the concerned and implemented in the spirit of the conferences.

The ZCCB Secretary General further reminded the participants that they are the custodians of institutional memory and that Bishops and Secretaries General depend on them for important information and documents including resolutions passed during bishops’ meetings.

Fr. Lungu said Administrative Secretaries should all the time provide information to the Bishops, Management and Secretaries General whenever they are needed for them to make informed decisions.
The meeting running from 9th to 13th September 2019 will culminate into a training workshop on the use of Corel Draw and Microsoft spreadsheet.
Present are Administrative Secretaries from the Episcopal Conferences of Malawi, Uganda, Kenya and Zambia, led by AMECEA Secretariat.
