He made the remarks while giving his homily in a closure Mass of 20th AMECEA Plenary at Msimbazi Center, Dar es Salaam Archdiocese where he stressed that “The Word of God encourages us to be faithful, generous, to remain steadfast and also believing in in the power of Gospel. In the first reading from the book of Genesis, Ibrahim was visited by the three men at his residence; he received them and prepares meal for them. This is the perspective of an African hearts.”
He added, “This is the manifest of an African culture and this is what we have seen and witnessed and experienced here in Tanzania from the time we arrived… am grateful for that. This is the warmness of African and also the generosity of Tanzanians the oasis of peace. We would like to pray for our neighboring countries that they may taste peace and love. I want to emphasize the point of generosity, giving out. We are encouraged to be kind and also to identify with our brothers and sisters”.
Bishop Kasonde also emphasized that every baptized person has been called to witness the love of Jesus Christ in which there will be moments of turbulence, trial and tribulation.
“We should not give up but remain steadfast and witness the truth that we have found in our Lord Jesus Christ. And this is an encouragement that whenever we meet trouble and also difficulties in our mission let us not give up but remain faithful to the God, and that is the spirit of missionary, spirit of a soldier of Christ,” he continued.
“Let what we do be inspired by the Word of God. Priority is to receive the word of God so that what we do is emanating from the love of Christ and coming from that love we have experienced from Lord Jesus Christ. And then we shall go out, just as we are doing here we have come to worship the Lord, listen to His word that may speak to us, he may help us to reflect”.
He also added that inspired by the word of God, everyone must be ready to go out on the mission, to go and do their best, for this is what the Lord asks of us.
